The current world population is 6.8 billion people and in the next 40 years, the UN predicts that it will reach 9 billion. This population explosion, combine with greenhouse emission, overconsumption, poverty, and ignorance will only damage the earth which God had created for humanity and nature. Earth’s temperature have always been changing, humans have always consume natural resources, trees have always been cut down, but these are not relevant information; rather it is the ignorance of the people that will be consider when the day comes. It is evident in the Bible, Torah, and Quran that “the earth is the Lord’s and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it,” belongs to him. God created the earth and natural resources so that human can benefit from it, not own it. The way things have been going in the last half century forces corruption and ignorance to erupt among the people in the world. In the end, it is essentially the consequence of choosing a selfish over a selfless course of action that puts human creations in the current state. In recent years, many faith communities in America have come together to call for a efficacious response to the increasing threat of global climate change.
