Mohammad Shafi, Ph.D.
Dr. Muhammad Shafi is chairman and CEO of the board of trustees of Dar al Islaam, incorporated in New Mexico in 1979. He is co-founder and ex-president of the Association of Pakistani Scientists and Engineers of North America. In the mid-60’s he served on the Executive Committee of the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jammat Association of Trinidad and Tobago. Dr. Shafi co-founded and served on the board of directors and as president of a number of other religious, educational, or service organizations, including the Islamic Center of New Mexico, the Muslim Students Association of Greater Washington, and the Pakistani Students Association of Greater Washington. Dr. Shafi’s educational background includes an MS from Peshawar University, an MS from Georgetown University, an MA in Public Administration from the University of New Mexico, and a Ph.D. in philosophy from Georgetown University. He also received training in Qur’ani Tafsir (commentary), and Islamic Fiqah (jurisprudence). Professionally, Dr. Shafi is a management consultant in corporate strategies and international marketing. He has served in several senior management capacities in areas related to defense, managed health care, and insurance.
